CAMP AS SAYLIYAH, Qatar – On June 25, 2014, the 6th Medical Logistics Management Center detachment 13 held a change of command ceremony at the US Army Medical Materiel Center Southwest Asia (USAMMC-SWA) where they rendered honors to the departing commander and welcomed incoming 6th MLMC Commander, Lt. Col. Kenneth Walters and Senior Enlisted Advisor, Master Sgt. Eric Delgado.
This transition marks a successful mission and tenure by Lt. Col. Katrina Streeter, outgoing commander of the 6th MLMC.
“In nine months, we have supported USCENTCOM with over 6,500 man hours during 34 missions. Our forward repair activity medical teams, maintenance teams, and customer service support teams conducted site assistance visits to every corner of Afghanistan, to role three medical treatment facilities,” said Streeter in her remarks.
USAMMC-SWA provides comprehensive health service logistics support to the joint health service support system in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Over time, USAMMC-SWA has developed into the theater lead agent for medical materiel, employing soldiers, airmen, and contractors.
The 3rd Medical Command (Deployment Support) Operational Command Post (Forward) Commander, Col. Lisa Doumont recognized Lt. Col. Katrina Streeter and her team for their leadership and versatility, while successfully executing medical logistics readiness for hundreds of joint and allied force units deployed throughout the US Central Command area of responsibility.
“Lt. Col. Streeter and team moved over 7,000 shipments while managing and communicating visibility on all medical supplies and equipment maintained within USAMMC-SWA – the second largest medical warehouse within the Department of Defense,” said Doumont.
Lt. Col. Walters also praised Lt. Col. Streeter for supporting and mentoring his team during the last several months.
“I am especially appreciative of how you orchestrated a smooth transition and welcomed us to Camp As Sayliyah. I look forward to adding another chapter to USAMMC-SWA’s historical contributions and accomplishments,” said Walters.
After his remarks, Walters signaled the color guard to “retire the colors.”
The US Army Medical Materiel Center Southwest Asia was established in January 2003. USAMMC-SWA is comprised of soldiers from the 6th Medical Logistics Management Center of Fort Detrick, Maryland, and the 312th Medical Logistics Company from Seagoville, Texas.
