MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - The Marines of 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division welcomed their new commanding officer, Col. Calvert L. Worth Jr., during a change of command ceremony here, July 10.
Worth accepted the battalion colors from Col. Ryan P. Heritage, the outgoing commanding officer of 6th Marines, before addressing the men and women under his command.
“I’m here for you,” said Worth. “I understand my responsibility, and I intend to work with you and for you as your commanding officer.”
Prior to assuming command of 6th Marines, Worth served at the Marine Corps University as director of the Enlisted Professional Military Education Branch. Worth currently holds master’s degrees in military studies and operational studies from the Marine Corps University as well as a master’s of science in national security strategy from the National Defense University.
After turning the regiment over to Worth, Heritage thanked the Marines for their performance and gave his best wishes to the men and women he led.
“This is a ceremony I’ll never forget,” said Heritage, shortly before thanking the individual battalions for the outstanding job they have done under his command.
