CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – This week’s U.S. Army Central Soldier Spotlight is Pfc. Antoni Sayre, a USARCENT utilities equipment repairer. Sayre, a Burke, Va., native, is an active duty Soldier out of Shaw Air Force Base with one year of service. Sayre is one month into six-month deployment to Kuwait.
This is Sayre’s first deployment. He plans to reenlist after his initial four-year enlistment and reclassify to military intelligence. Sayre is currently enrolled in Northern Virginia Community College working toward a computer science degree.
Q: What is your favorite movie genre?
A: Action adventure. I’m a sucker for good graphics and action adventure has the best.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: It changes. When I was 4 years old, it was Peeps and my whole family knew so my fifth Easter they all sent Peeps. I remember opening the first box and trying the first one and it was terrible. I haven’t liked Peeps since.
Q: What are your goals?
A: Make it 20 years in the Army and retire.
Q: What are you most proud of?
A: I try not to be proud. Pride comes before a fall.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Video games and fishing.
Q: When did you make the decision to become a Soldier and why?
A: December of 2012. I was aware of the college benefits and I didn’t want to have to deal with a student loan.
Q: If you could choose a different position in ARCENT for one day, what position would you choose?
A: I’m pretty happy where I am.
