Joint Force Headquarters - Alabama National Guard

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Soldier highlight recognition is for 1st Lt. Don Jenkins for his effort during Vibrant Response 14. Vibrant Response 14 is a Defense Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Response Force training event based at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.

In many ways Jenkins, a human resource officer with the 31st Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Brigade, acts as both the gatekeeper and the key master when someone needs to see Col. Lee Ellis, commander of the 31st CBRN. Jenkins has been assigned the additional duty of aide-de-camp to Ellis since November 2014 for the preparation and duration of Vibrant Response 14.

Jenkins' primary responsibilities as aide-de-camp include scheduling meetings, keeping track of Ellis’ visits and conferences, and to pass along critical information as needed between Ellis and other key leaders.

Jenkins is highly-motivated and recognized as one who wants to do the right thing. Ellis affirmed that Jenkins is a can-do officer with energy.

Jenkins believes the additional duty has helped him in the learning process. He recognizes the importance of well-developed operations planning. This will prove critical in his career progression in the Alabama Army National Guard.
