TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Soldier highlight recognition is for Spc. Richard Webb’s efforts during Vibrant Response 14. Vibrant Response 14 is a Defense Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Response Force training event based at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.
Preparation for the exercise Vibrant Response 14 began September 2013, a month after VR 13 finished. Master Sgt. Jeff Tyra, the noncommissioned officer in charge of the 31st Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Brigade’s communication section, set goals to improve the brigade’s information technology infrastructure, streamline the communication section’s helpdesk process, and make more effective file sharing for the various sections.
Tyra sought the assistance of Webb from 62nd Troop Command, Montgomery, Alabama.
Webb lives in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and is currently working toward his masters in cybersecurity at the University of Alabama. With Webb’s talents and specialty, Tyra’s goals are a realization for the 31st’s mission at VR 14. Webb built the brigade’s IT network from scratch and created a helpdesk system that will save brigade sections countless man-hours of lost productivity. Instead of physically going to the IT section to find a solution or IT specialist to solve an issue, the newly-created helpdesk provides immediate solutions and can track services as needed.
Webb created the codes for the IT system in a matter of days that could have taken six months to complete, said Tyra. Webb has helped the communication section and the 31st to become a more effective and ready operations command for VR 14 at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.
