FORT MCCOY, Wis.—The 335th Signal Command creates a resourceful way to ensure Soldiers are fit to fight by implementing Soldier Readiness Program during the Red Dragon exercise.
“We have a majority of our Soldiers here,” said Sgt. 1st Class Erica Adderley, noncommissioned officer of in-processing, assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 415th Chemical Biological Radiation Nuclear Brigade. “This gives us an opportunity to ensure the Soldiers’ medical and dental records are up to date,” continued Adderley.
The Soldier Readiness Program is designed to qualify Soldiers for deployments. The purpose of the program is to assess the overall health of Soldiers to determine their fitness to deploy.
“The Soldier Readiness Program is a top priority in the Army Reserve,” said Chief Warrant Officer Tami Saunders, a human resource technician who is a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 415th Chemical Brigade of Greenville, S.C. “We could be called up at any time,” continued Saunders.
Much like the minutemen during the American Revolution, the commanders of the 335th Signal Command are taking the time to ensure their Soldiers are ready to deploy in a moment’s notice and respond to any possible threat. The SRP gives the command an assessment of the units’ readiness.
“During the SRP we examine and evaluate dental and medical records as well as check Soldiers hearing and bloodwork,” said Carl Hershey, accounts manager for the Logistics Health Incorporation of LaCrosse, Wis. “This is an easy, cost effective way to update Soldiers readiness records.
Nearly 2,000 Soldiers of the 335th Signal Command will have their records updated by the SRP here during the Red Dragon exercise.
