MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT, N.C. - More than 150 competitors crowded Hancock Pool during Marine Corps Community Services' Sprint Triathlon/Relay at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Aug. 16.
The event was part of Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune's Semper Fit Grand Prix 2014 series. Participants completed a 400-meter swim, 10-mile bike ride and three-mile run.
The male and female individual first place finishers were Lt. Andrew Dominguez, a physical trainer at Cherry Point's Naval Heath Clinic who finished with a time of 54 minutes and 19 seconds; and Andrea Packard, a local business owner from New Bern who finished with a time of 59:54. Team Veritusvirtuslibe won the team competition with a time of 1:01:00. Team Veritusvirtuslibe consisted of Cpl. Marklan Nixon, a legal service specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron; Capt. Phoebe Riner, a victims legal counselor with H&HS; and Capt. Luke Huisenga, a trial counselor with H&HS.
