FORT SILL, Okla. — The 2nd Mobilization Support Group, 85th Support Command, headquartered at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, conducted a change of command ceremony Sept. 6, at the Rinehart Fitness Center there, where Col. Kimberly A. Bodoh relinquished command to Col. Walter C. Catlett.
Brig. Gen. Frederick R. Maiocco, Jr., commanding general of the 85th Support Command and deputy-commanding general for support of First Army, Division-West, was the reviewing officer of the ceremony. He thanked Bodoh and listed her accomplishments while in command, and welcomed Catlett and his family to the command.
“It has truly been a pleasure having you lead our Soldiers and Army Civilians at the 2nd Mobilization Support Group, across the seven states throughout the Midwest,” said Maiocco. “Because of your leadership and because of their [2nd MSG soldiers] efforts, we are extremely proud of them and we are extremely proud of you and your achievements.”
Bodoh gave remarks following Maiocco, and explained the role of the 2nd Mobilization Support Group and shared her pleasure in having commanded its soldiers.
“Second Mobilization Support Group battalions mobilize to force generation installations to support the deployment of war-fighters to theater. We are the last ones they see before they deploy and the first ones they see upon their return. It is incumbent on us to do all that we can to prepare them for deployment, and upon re-deployment, ensure that they are ready to return home,” Bodoh said. “Two years ago, I stood in front of you humbled at the privilege to command soldiers at the group-level. Today, I stand here re-affirming that honor. It has been a phenomenal two years.”
Catlett, who previously served as a battalion commander for the group, expressed his appreciation to Bodoh while assuming command.
“In the last two years, Col. Kim Bodoh has defined what that [working in a mobilization support group] is all about,” said Catlett. “I can’t imagine taking over command from anyone else but you. To the soldiers of the Second Mobilization Support Group, your actions in the past year are exemplary. What you’ve done and what you’ve shaped is something to be remembered.”
Catlett was previously assigned as the battalion commander for the 2219th Mobilization Support Battalion, 2nd Mobilization Support Group; previous to that a few of his assignments include serving as a faculty instructor at the Command and General Staff College; intelligence officer with the 420th Engineer Brigade; operations officer with the 489th Engineer Battalion; Bravo company commander of the 489th Engineer Battalion; headquarters and headquarters company commander of the 489th Engineer Battalion.
Catlett was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1987; he later received his commission in the U.S Army Reserve in 1995. He is a graduate of the Armor Officer Basic Course, Engineer Officer Advance Course, Combined Arms and Service Staff College, Command and General Staff College, Advanced Joint Professional Military Education Course and the U.S. Army War College. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies.
Bodoh’s next assignment will be as the chief of staff for the 87th Army Reserve Support Command in Birmingham, Alabama.
Guests in attendance at the ceremony included Army Reserve Ambassador for Arkansas, Darrell Dale; Brig. Gen. Peter Bosse, commanding general of the 87th Army Reserve Support Command, and Command Sgt. Maj. James Preston, command sergeant major of the 87th Army Reserve Support Command.
