BAGRA AIR FIELD, Afghanistan - U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Donald Cosip, a cargo processor assigned to the 455th Expeditionary Aerial Port Squadron, recently received a coin from U.S. Air Force Central Command Chief Master Sgt. Ramon Colon-Lopez with the help of 455th Air Expeditionary Wing command chief Jeffery Brown Sept. 10, 2014 at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan.
As a result of winning Airman of the month for June, Cosip had the opportunity to brief Colon-Lopez during a visit here on his job and the mission within 455 EAPS.
“The highlight of my deployment so far was taking a 'selfie' with the AFCENT command chief,” said Cosip, who is deployed from the 730th Air Mobility Squadron, Yokota Air Base, Japan. “Taking a picture with Chief Colon-Lopez was really great for me, along with winning the Airman’s award in June.”
This deployment has been challenging for Cosip, but he’s learned a lot so far during this deployment.
“I actually don’t work in the cargo processing section back at Yokota,” said Cosip. “I usually work in pax or the passenger terminal. This whole deployment has been an eye opener working with cargo more in-depth instead of putting people into aircraft.
Much of Cosip’s leadership have been impressed with his hard work and dedication, which led to him being named Airman of the month.
“Airman First Class Donald Cosip is the sort of Airman Air Force leader’s dream of having the honor to train and develop,” said Chief Master Sgt. Jamie Vanoss, 455 EAPS superintendent. “Driven by service, integrity and excellence, he attacks each and every task with tenacity and passion. Despite only having been in the military for just two years, his performance serves as an inspiration for those assigned to his unit. The future is certainly bright for this young Airman.”
