FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died Oct. 14 from an apparent gunshot wound in his off-post residence in Killeen, Texas.
First Lt. Brenton S. Dodgen, 28, whose home of record is listed as Universal City, Texas, entered active-duty service in January 2011 as a signal officer. He was assigned to the 62nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion, 11th Signal Brigade, Fort Hood, since July 2014.
Dodgen deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from June 2011 to June 2012 and in support of Operation Spartan Shield from August 2013 to May 2014.
Dodgen's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon.
Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation.
