MARINE CORPS AIR STATION NEW RIVER, N.C. - Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River leaders and other held a town hall meeting to inform residents of upcoming events during a town hall meeting at the theater aboard MCAS New River, Oct. 28.
“The purpose of the town hall meeting was to keep those who work aboard the air station and their families informed,” said Col. Timothy Salmon, New River commanding officer and Port Morris, New Jersey native. “We wanted to make information available and had 35 various representatives to inform and answer questions.”
Representatives from Lejeune New River Marine Corps Community Services, Provost Marshal Office, Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune and other services presented information to the attendees before opening up the floor for questions or concerns pertaining to the general population.
After the presentation, the representatives remained available to answer any additional questions attendees.
“I wanted to know more about my community,” said Andrea Smith, a New River resident in attendance of the town hall meeting. “I’m very grateful to hear about what was going on. The meeting was very helpful with a lot of clarification.”
New River can look forward to its next town hall meeting in the months to come.
Smith also said she hoped more attended the town hall meeting, and is hopeful those not in attendance watched the meeting online through the live broadcast.
The town hall was broadcasted live and recorded to the Defense Video and Imagery Distribution System making it available for those unable to attend the meeting.
