MALMSTROM AFB, Mont. -- It's the little things that count - even a shower curtain.
As a result of Air Force Global Strike Command's Force Improvement Program, items are already making their way to Malmstrom's 13,800-square-mile missile complex. For security forces, chefs and missileers who post to the field for four days at a time, something as minor as having a new, wider shower curtain is just one way the FIP's initiatives are already improving the quality of life for Airmen deployed to a missile alert facility.
"The Force Improvement Program allows us to update some of our dilapidated items such as couches, chairs, furniture and recreational items such as ping pong and pool tables," said Tech. Sgt. Timothy Adkins, 12th Missile Squadron facility manager NCO in charge.
Tech. Sgt. Lee Olson, 341st Operations Group MAF supply NCO in charge, and FIP facilitator for the 341st OG, has seen first-hand the numerous upgrades making their way to the complex.
"Currently 30 couches are making their way out to the MAFs," he said. "Kitchens are also getting upgraded so they will all be standardized - they're getting new griddles, commercial grade freezers and fridges for capsule crew members. All these little pieces are just going to make the MAF that much better and a more comfortable place for Airmen to go to."
