FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died Nov. 21 on Fort Hood, Texas.
Spc. Daniel Ray Leonard, 34, whose home of record is Bristol, Virginia, entered active-duty service in July 2008 as a health care specialist. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since April 2009.
Leonard deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from July 2013 to January 2014. He deployed in support Operation Iraqi Freedom from April to December 2009 and from June to November 2011.
Leonard's awards and decorations include two Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, two Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Combat Medal with combat service star, Iraqi Combat Medal with two combat service stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal and Sharpshooter Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle.
