KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany -- The 21st Theater Sustainment Command’s Special Troops Battalion recognized the abilities of two of its Soldiers to perform duties at the next rank by promoting James Simo to sergeant and Summer Simo to specialist during a ceremony here on Panzer Kaserne Oct. 31.
As all Soldiers know, the family is truly the heart that drives Soldiers to succeed. With some outstanding mentorship from 21st STB leaders and a dual military family who continues to support one another in their respective careers, the only thing you get is excellence. This was demonstrated when both James and Summer were promoted to the next rank in the secondary zone.
The 21st TSC senior enlisted adviser Command Sgt. Maj. Rodney J. Rhoades noted at the joint promotion ceremony that Sgt. Simo’s “ability to lead will definitely allow him to pursue any career goals he has whether it be as the next CSM , warrant officer or commissioned officer.” Sgt. Simo’s Soldier skills were on full display earlier this year as he won the 21st TSC Best Warrior Competition.
As for Spc. Simo, her noncommissioned officer in charge, Sgt. 1st Class Ericca Siler, stated that “during the summer (permanent change of station) season this Soldier executed the duties of a sergeant while simultaneously performing the duty functions for two separate sections within the S1 by herself and with little supervision.”
