MARIETTA, Ga. – Gen. Frank J. Grass, Chief, National Guard Bureau, recognized a Glynn County teen, Thursday, January 8, for his participation in the Georgia National Guard’s 22-week Youth ChalleNGe Academy while attending the Georgia Adjutant General and Commanding General change of command ceremony in Marietta at Clay National Guard Center.
Sonny M. Bailey, of Brunswick, is one of three cadets to receive recognition for his hard work achievement while attending the Youth ChalleNGe Academy.
Since participating in the Youth ChalleNGe program, Bailey has completed his GED and hopes to go to college and enlist in the Army to become a commissioned officer.
General Frank J. Grass serves as the 27th Chief, National Guard Bureau and as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In this capacity, he serves as a military adviser to the President, Secretary of Defense, National Security Council and is the Department of Defense's official channel of communication to the Governors and State Adjutants General on all matters pertaining to the National Guard. He is responsible for ensuring that the more than 470,000 Army and Air National Guard personnel are accessible, capable and ready to protect the homeland and to provide combat resources to the Army and Air Force.
