WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Army Field Band’s new acoustic ensemble, Six String Soldiers, will be touring the Northeast Feb. 8-16.
Six String Soldiers will host four educational clinics and nine concerts as part of their tour throughout Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire.
“Our band has five members, and two are UMASS grads,” said Staff Sgt. Glenn Robertson, bassist and UMASS Amherst graduate. “This is a chance for us to give back and showcase Army excellence with the communities, students and music enthusiasts in New England.”
Six String Soldiers is a four-member acoustic group performing Americana, folk, bluegrass, and Irish music in an informal setting. The group brings its signature style to the smallest, most intimate venues, the busiest public places, street festivals, and music festivals across the United States. With its focus on audience interaction and sharing its members’ stories and experiences as American Soldiers, Six String Soldiers offers one of the most personal musical experiences found in the United States Army.
Six String Soldiers will embark on their first official tour this February before returning to Washington, D.C., and rejoining the premier rock ensemble, The Volunteers.
