ALTUS AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. – Altus AFB is participating in Military Saves Week from Feb. 23 – 27, 2015.
Military Saves Week is a Department of Defense-sponsored campaign for service members, their families and DoD civilians to learn about healthy financial habits that promote better savings behavior.
“Military Saves Week is a campaign that really focuses on financial readiness of military members and their families to help reduce debt, get financially savvy and save their hard-earned money,” said Dana Doan, 97th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Readiness Center community readiness specialist.
The AFRC will host financial classes in cooperation with NBC Bank, the base commissary and the 97th Medical Group.
“The goal we are trying to reach is financial education; creating financial literacy is what we like to say,” said Doan. “Knowing how much money you make, where it goes, how to save it and how not to spend it.”
Classes will be held at the AFRC Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.:
• Monday, Feb. 23 - The Road to Success is Always Under Construction
• Tuesday, Feb. 24 - Set a Goal Make a Plan Save Automatically
• Wednesday, Feb. 25 - Doing More With Less
• Thursday, Feb. 26 - More Cluck For Your Buck
“Financial success doesn’t just happen, it takes hard work and attention, but I think it is achievable by everybody at all ranks and income levels,” said Doan. “I just ask people to take a look at the pledge we are offering online and that’s not a monetary pledge. It’s just a pledge saying, ‘You know what, I’m going to take a look at my finances and see how I can do better.’”
