FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died March 7 from an apparent gunshot wound at his off-post residence in Killeen, Texas. Bell County Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin pronounced him deceased at 10:20 p.m.
Pfc. Elvis Lee Bingham, 35, whose home of record is listed as Gainesville, Georgia, entered active-duty service in May 2012 as a horizontal construction engineer. He was assigned to the 43rd Engineer Company, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, since October 2012.
Bingham deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from June 2014 to February 2015.
Bingham's awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Army Service Ribbon.
