FORT BLISS, Texas - The 480th Military Police Company, (Detachment), Puerto Rico Army National Guard, landed at the Silas L. Copeland Arrival/Departure Air Control Group airfield March 17 after completing a mission in Honduras.
The 480th MP Co. conducted joint operations with Joint Task Force Bravo located at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras, in which humanitarian aid was the concentration. The unit also had many opportunities to conduct missions with Guatemala and work with Honduran soldiers.
“We did a great job,” said 1st. Lt. Christian Quiroz, commander of the detachment. “We achieved the commendable medal for safety award and we received the safety streamer.”
Staff Sgt. Ariel Cruz is a squad leader with the 480th MP Co., and this deployment was his fifth deployment and second trip to Honduras.
“The experience in leadership is what I am going to take with me from this deployment,” said Cruz. “The Honduran soldiers are very polite and they did their job well. I would like to come back again to Honduras. I got to go to the Copan Mayan ruins. There are some different things you can do there and meet different people and see another culture.”
The 480th MP Co. will depart for Puerto Rico when the demobilization process is complete.
