FORT HUACHUCA, Ariz. - Clinic staff and patients will be sporting their favorite denim jeans on April 24, 2015, at the health center on Fort Huachuca, Arizona, in support of sexual assault victims nationwide.
National Denim Day is an annual campaign to remind participants that clothing is not an excuse to commit sexual assault.
The event first began in 1999 as a protest against an Italian court’s ruling that a woman’s tight jeans proved that she had consented to a sexual assault.
The health center’s Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention team is encouraging all staff, patients and guests to wear denim as a show of solidarity for National Denim Day.
For more information about this event, contact the clinic SHARP representative at 520-533-0447.
