NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - With family, friends and fellow service members in attendance, the 108th Chemical Company, South Carolina Army National Guard, held a change of command ceremony April 12, 2015, with the outgoing commander, Capt. Lee Jackson, passing the unit colors to incoming commander, 1st Lt. Alex R. Wright.

The passing of the colors represents the transfer of authority and responsibility for the unit from one commander to another commander. The ceremony also signifies farewell to the unit by the outgoing commander and an introduction to the new commander.

“Captain Jackson has done an excellent job in ensuring every soldier was superbly trained, mentally and physically fit, and prepared to meet the demands of perpetual readiness,” said Lt. Col. Gregory Farley, Battalion Commander, 218th Brigade Support Battalion.

Wright, a native of Edgefield County, has served as a Recon Platoon Leader and deployed to Kosovo in 2012 as the executive officer for the 218th MEB HHC. Most recently, he was the operations officer for the 108th Chemical Company.

“The unit will be gaining a truly great leader in Lieutenant Wright,” said Farley, “I have no doubt he’ll bring great ideas and enthusiasm to the 108th Chemical Company.”

As Jackson departed, he expressed his thanks and admiration to his wife Adrienne and the Soldiers in formation. “I thank you for allowing me to serve as your commander for the past three years. I owe all the success of my command time to you for your hard work and dedication.”

Wright was introduced as the new commander and addressed the formation of troops. “I wouldn’t be here without you. I appreciate and admire you all, for the things you do on a daily basis and the things I learn from you,” said Wright. “Thank you for letting me serve with you.”
