Story by Staff Sgt. Kimberly Derryberry

Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center

LANSING, Mich. - Arctic Eagle, a joint military training exercise, will take place at Camp Grayling, Rockport State Park and Mackinaw City from April 18 - 25. Soldiers, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guard, as well as our Danish counterparts will participate in a variety of scenarios in order to ensure the military’s ability to control unit training at multiple locations, collaborate with Department of Defense and foreign nation partners, exercise joint communications and respond to potential domestic threats. Helicopters and other aircraft will be used in parts of the exercise.

Arctic Eagle is a joint service and international exercise, based on the U.S. and Denmark National Strategies for the Arctic, addressing the defense of critical infrastructure within the Arctic Circle. The exercise supports the president and Department of Defense's national strategy for the Arctic and is being conducted in the current constrained fiscal environment without the expenditure of additional dollars.

Media is invited to attend the training at Rockport State Park on April 21. Soldiers from the Michigan Army National Guard, as well as Soldiers from Denmark, will partner to secure the port after a simulated attack.

Media is also invited to attend the training at Camp Grayling on April 25. The exercise will take place at the newly-constructed Combined Arms Collective Training Facility. Soldiers from the Army Reserve, as well as Marines, will work to secure the infrastructure on the CACTF as if they were securing a real community.

    MEDIA ADVISORY:
For more information about Arctic Eagle and to RSVP, please contact the Michigan National Guard public affairs office at 517-481-8137. Exercise times and dates may be altered slightly to accommodate equipment needs or severe weather. Media members must be escorted during the exercises at all times.
