MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. - U.S. forces will join Jordan and other international partner forces in Exercise Eager Lion, one of U.S. Central Command's premiere exercises, in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from May 5-19.
Eager Lion 2015 will consist of a series of simulated scenarios to facilitate a coordinated, partnered military response to conventional and unconventional threats. The scenarios developed will include border security, command and control, cyber defense and battlespace management.
During late April and early May there is an academics phase so participants can familiarize themselves with operational planning processes and policies in a classroom setting.
About 10,000 military personnel are participating in the exercise. Of those, about 5,000 are from the U.S., representing USCENTCOM headquarters and its air, land, maritime and special operations components.
In addition to being hosted by Jordan, other participating nations include: Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Egypt, France, Iraq, Italy, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Poland, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. Additionally, NATO's Allied Rapid Reaction Corps is scheduled to participate in the exercise.
