BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - Marine Corps Recruiting Station New Jersey and the Somerset County Coaches Association will host a media day for the 3rd Annual Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone Bowl game on April 26 at Bridgewater-Raritan High School at 1 p.m.
The game will feature high school senior football players from 14 different schools in Somerset County. The schools include: Bernards, Bound Brook, Bridgewater-Raritan, Franklin, Hillsborough, Immaculata, Manville, Montgomery, North Plainfield, Pingry, Ridge, Somerville, Watchung, and Delaware Valley.
Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone, of Raritan, New Jersey, was awarded the Medal of Honor in recognition of his outstanding heroism at Guadalcanal. Later, during the Iwo Jima campaign, he was killed in action on D-Day, 19 February 1945. Bridgewater-Raritan High School Field House is dedicated to his memory.
The game will be held on June 25 at Somerville High School at 222 Davenport Street, Somerville, New Jersey, and will begin at 7 p.m.
