INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Army Reserve Col. Robert G. Haste represented the 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) and the Army Reserve at the Annual Indiana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Banquet here recognizing the outstanding efforts of employers from the area April 17, 2015.
The event honored several employers nominated by service members of the Army Reserves, the Indiana National Guard, the Navy Reserves, Marine Corps Reserves and the Indiana Air National Guard with eight ESGR Above and Beyond Award and the 19 Secretary of Defense Freedom Award Nomination Certificates.
The ESGR Above and Beyond Award is intended to recognize local employers who go “above and beyond” what is required under the law by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).
The ESGR Secretary of Defense Freedom Award Nomination Certificate is the highest recognition by the Department of Defense for employers who give extraordinary support to employees. Recipients of the approved final award are honored at the Pentagon and the annual Freedom Award ceremony.
Nominees for the Freedom Award are employers who go above and beyond by “not only safeguarding their positions,” according to the ESGR site, “but establishing exceptional and generous initiatives that accommodate and care for employees and their families.”
