Camp Atterbury, Indiana. – David Couch, a 68W healthcare specialist with the 31st Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Brigade Higher Headquarters Detachment, Alabama National Guard, was promoted to the rank of sergeant Friday, April 25th, at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.
Couch has served as a healthcare specialist with the 31st CBRN for the past seven years and will be transferring to the 127th Medical Company this June. He said this promotion and duty assignment will add a different layer of learning and responsibility.
“I am ready to take a leadership role in my MOS and lead by example,” said Couch.
Couch is motivated by a general desire to help people through his position as a healthcare specialist and see the results of his and his medical sections efforts.
He has been part of the 31st CBRN’s Command and Control Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Response Element (C2CRE) mission the last four years.
This has been the focus for Couch’s professional job, where he works for the 31st CBRN in both logistics and supply, helping them to be prepared in the event of a CBRN mission.
“He is the most experienced C2CRE Medical Operations enlisted person,” said Sgt. First Class William Chadwick, non-commissioned-officer-in-charge of the medical section of the 31st CBRN, of Couch, “He is our subject matter expert and jack-of-all-trades in our section.”
