FORT HOOD, Texas -- Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died from injuries suffered when he was apparently hit by a vehicle April 26 in Austin, Texas. Austin County Emergency Services pronounced him deceased at 2:26 a.m.
Sgt. Derek Roy Pagan, 29, whose home of record is listed as Kunkletown, Pennsylvania, entered the military in April 2011 as a radio and communications security repairer. He was assigned to 589th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood since October 2013.
Pagan's awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Air Assault Badge.
Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation by the Austin Police Department.
