    82nd Combat Aviation Brigade

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - The last remaining paratroopers of the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, who deployed to Afghanistan reunited with their families and friends during a homecoming ceremony held at Simmons Airfield on Fort Bragg, North Carolina, May 6, 2015.

The paratroopers of the 82nd CAB officially marked the end of a nine-month deployment during a transfer of authority ceremony earlier this month in Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan. The 82nd CAB relinquished its responsibilities to the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) from Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Among the crowd of cheering family and friends greeting the redeploying troops were Kassandra Jordan and her three children. The Jordans welcomed husband and father, Sgt. Christopher Jordan.

“I was so excited and anxious, but the wait was definitely worth it,” Kassandra said. “I am so proud of my husband. It’s great to have him back home with our children, the long wait is over.”

The reuniting of the family members with their paratroopers comes after a successful end of mission for the 82nd CAB.

Deployed as Task Force Pale Horse, the brigade provided a constant aviation presence on the battlefield and immediate aviation support to all ground commanders within multiple Train Advise and Assist Commands. The pilots of the 82nd CAB flew more than 35,000 hours in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Freedom’s Sentinel.

Brigadier (UK) James Learmont, 82nd Airborne Division, deputy commanding general – interoperability, served as the guest speaker.

“Welcome back home paratroopers," said Learmont. “You have represented the 82nd Airborne Division with great pride, it is good to have you home.”
