FORT BRAGG, N.C. – Joe De Sena, CEO and co-founder of the "Spartan Race," did a tandem jump with The Golden Knights and visited the 525th Military Intelligence Brigade area here May 6.
While visiting the ‘Lightning Brigade,’ De Sena toured of the brigade area and motor pool and spoke to "Lightning" Soldiers.
During his speech to "Lightning Soldiers," De Sena noted how the heavy equipment in the motor pool reminded him of his days in up-state New York as well as his great respect for the Armed Forces.
“I have a massive military envy and just want to thank everybody for their service,” said De Sena. “I wish I would have done it when I had the chance so I try to make up for it by supporting any way I can.”
“I don’t like people sitting on a couch, I like people moving and pushing themselves.”
A Spartan Workout is slated for Aug. 2 at Hendrick Stadium and a Spartan Sprint Race is scheduled for Sept. 19 at Holland Drop Zone here.
“A Spartan is a person committed that goes through and over obstacles and never quits,” said De Sena.
De Sena challenged the Soldiers of the "Lightning Brigade" to a "Spartan" work out the following morning.
