GRAYLING, Mich. - Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center will be conducting a prescribed burn on the impact area of the 40 Complex on Thursday, May 14. The focused burn area is located in northern Crawford County with a small area in southern Otsego County.
Approximately 4,000 acres is scheduled to be burned in order to reduce fire hazards during upcoming military training exercises.
Military fire fighters from Camp Grayling and the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center will manage the fire.
As with all approved burn plans, several factors to include public safety, weather conditions, and wildlife have been taken into consideration.
A significant amount of smoke will be visible in the area.
