BABADAG TRAINING AREA, Romania – Romania is hosting Bulgarian and U.S. forces during a multinational exercise designed to demonstrate the ever-increasing capability of NATO allies to defend Eastern Europe, May 18-28.
Exercise Platinum Eagle occurs annually between Marines and sailors from the Black Sea Rotational Force, and Romanian and Bulgarian forces. This year the training will take place at the Babadag Training Area in Romania. Functional areas consisting of basic-infantry skills, advanced marksmanship, company-level command and control, and use of anti-armor weapon systems will be rehearsed.
The Black Sea Rotational Force is a contingent of Marines and sailors in the Black Sea, Balkans, and Caucasus regions that maintain proven partnerships, build military capacity, promote regional security, and provide the capability for rapid crisis response as directed by U.S. European Command and U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa.
