ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – The U.S. Senate confirmed the nomination of Col. Vincent B. Barker, on April 30, 2015, for promotion to brigadier general and command of the Army Reserve’s 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), based in Indianapolis.
Barker, native of Crandon, Wisconsin, is currently serving as the chief of staff of the 85th Support Command, headquartered in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Barker enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1981. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant from the Army’s Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point, Stevens Point, Wisconsin, in 1987.
Barker received a Bachelor of Science in Geography from UW – Stevens Point, a Master of Science in Management and Organizational Behavior from Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin and a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the U.S Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania.
Barker deployed to Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, in 2010 with the 82nd Airborne Division in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and deployed in 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom serving at Headquarters, Third Army/Coalition Forces Land Component Command (CFLCC), Camp Doha, Kuwait.
Barker’s military education includes the United States Army War College, Advanced Joint Primary Military Education Course, U.S. Army Command & General Staff College, the Combined Arms Services Staff School, Senior Transportation Officer Qualification Course, Support Operations Course, Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, and the Marine Corps Communication and Electronics School.
