BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana National Guard is racing the clock to help parish officials protect a community near the Clyde Fant Pkwy. and Jimmy Davis Hwy. in Shreveport, Louisiana, while combatting flood waters from the Red River.
Engineer teams have been working nonstop on the construction of an 800 linear ft. HESCO barrier, consisting of two rows on the bottom and one row on the top totaling 2,400 linear feet, to fortify a concrete wall.
The project is set to be completed this afternoon ahead of the river’s estimated crest.
Since June 3, Louisiana Guardsmen, as directed by Gov. Bobby Jindal, have been hauling assets, assisting construction efforts, and positioning teams to potentially affected areas.
Louisiana’s Guardsmen remain ready and equipped to stand up at any moment to protect lives and property, maintain communications, and ensure the continuity of operations and government.
