FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa.– More than 600 Pennsylvania National Guard Soldiers assigned to the 728th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 213th Regional Support Group, headquartered in Spring City, began annual training here this week.
The soldiers in the battalion will train on skills such as weapons qualification, driver’s training, chemical decontamination, and vehicle maintenance. Additionally, soldiers with two companies in the 728th CSSB, the 131st Transportation Company and 1067th Transportation Company, will embark on a transportation mission hauling equipment to Pennsylvania Army National Guard members training at Camp Grayling, Michigan.
Lt. Col. Timothy Brooks, commander of the 728th CSSB, says about annual training, “The Soldiers and leaders of the 728th CSSB are being challenged during this annual training period with realistic training at Fort Indiantown Gap and Phoenixville, as well as training in Ohio and Michigan.”
The 728th CSSB is the largest unit within the 213th Regional Support Group with units located from Johnstown to Philadelphia. The battalion’s mission is to manage logistics and support functions for other military units.
The battalion’s companies include: 28th Military Police Company, 128th Chemical Company, 131st Transportation Company, 1067th Transportation Company, 3622nd Component Repair Company, and the 252nd Engineer Company along with the battalion’s headquarters company.
