    FORT KNOX, Ky. -- In a ceremony conducted at the Fort Knox Waybur Theater Jan. 23, 1st Sgt. Carl Reynolds assumed the responsibilities as first sergeant for the Army Human Resources Command from 1st Sgt. Kevin McMullen. Maj. Simone Butler, HRC Headquarters and Headquarters Company commander, officiated.

    In her remarks Butler told the audience that she was confident that Reynolds was more than up to the task he was undertaking and looked forward to working with him. She also thanked Reynolds' wife Kathy for accepting the challenge put forth by Command Sgt. Maj Charles Smith, the HRC command sergeant major, to support her husband in the responsibilities he so willingly accepted to fulfill.

    Reynolds said he was humbled to be selected and assume the responsibilities of first sergeant in such as great command, and that he would strive to continue the leadership demonstrated by the outgoing first sergeant.

    Reynolds, who has served in the Army since 1994, has held numerous positions of responsibility in the course of his career which includes assignments with Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 1st Battalion, 30th Field Artillery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma; 43rd AG Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; United States Army European Command, Stuttgart, Germany; 510th Personnel Services Battalion, Stuttgart, Germany; 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Vicenza, Italy; Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Battalion, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Vicenza, Italy; and Bravo Company, Allied Forces Southern Europe, Madrid, Spain.

    Before assuming his current duties as first sergeant Reynolds served in the Enlisted Personnel Management Directorate at HRC.

    In his remarks McMullen said, "The past 24 months are the highlight of my career, and I consider it an honor and privilege to have served in this position."

    Butler praised McMullen for a positive attitude and a commitment to duty that had not gone unnoticed, pointing out he had been selected to attend the Sergeant Major Academy at Fort Bliss, Texas, this year.
