CINCU, Romania – Romanian Minister of National Defense Mircea Duşa visited the Joint Task Force Headquarters for exercise Trident Joust 15 today.
Allied Joint Force Command Naples, the NATO Response Force command and control headquarters for 2015, is conducting exercise Trident Joust 15 from June 18-28, 2015.
Trident Joust 15 is the first time a Joint Force Command headquarters has deployed to Romania, and the first time an NRF command and control exercise has conducted the shifting of control from home station to a deployed location.
The minister of defense met with the Chief of Staff of JFC Naples, Italian army Lt. Gen. Leonardo di Marco, and witnessed the missions of the Joint Operations Center and the 2nd NATO Signal Battalion.
"Romania has been a valued partner in the preparation and execution of exercise Trident Joust,” said di Marco. "I extend my gratitude to the members of the Romanian forces who have contributed to our objectives here.”
Romania has supported the exercise with logistical and airlift support, which included the transportation of more than 100 JFC Naples members with a Romanian C-130H and C-27J. Romania has also linked its national live-fire exercise, VIFORUL 15, to exercise Trident Joust to help enhance training for all partners.
Trident Joust 15 is also a part of a larger series of exercises referred to as Allied Shield. As with all NATO exercises, the exercises in this series are defensive in nature and are part of NATO’s assurance measures. The activities focus on enhancing interoperability, readiness and responsiveness among Allied and partner nations.
