FORT KNOX, Ky. - Col. Scott Morcomb, commanding general of the 11th Theater Aviation Command, became Brig. Gen. Scott Morcomb in a ceremony Saturday, the 27th of June 2015 at Godman Army Airfield, Fort Knox, Kentucky.
“I am truly honored and blessed this day to be promoted to the rank of brigadier general. I take this charge very seriously, fully realizing the tremendous responsibility that goes with this. I will give my all to honor and uphold the expectations of this rank and of me”, stated Morcomb.
Morcomb, a distinguished military graduate from Winona State University takes command after having served in the Army for over 29 years. Morcomb has served in several key positions including his most recent assignment as the Aviation Director for the United States Army Reserve Command in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He has flown over 3,500 hours in U.S. Army Aircrafts. His military education includes Combined Arms and Staff College, Command General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College.
In his civilian capacity, Morcomb works as a pilot for American Airlines. With American Airlines, he amassed over 15,000 flight hours.
Morcomb assumed his duties as the commanding general during a change of command ceremony that took place on the 17th of May 2015. A ceremony where Lieutenant General Jefferey Talley, Commanding General, United States Army Reserve Command presided over.
The 11th TAC has two missions, functioning as both a war fighting headquarters and as a functional command. As a war fighting command, the 11th TAC provides command, control, staff planning, and supervision for two aviation brigades and one air traffic service battalion. As a functional command the 11th TAC provides command and control for all army reserve aviation assets.
