JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. - U.S. Air Force Col. Caroline Miller assumed command of the 633rd Air Base Wing during a change of command ceremony at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, July 13, 2015.

During the ceremony, presided over by Maj. Gen. H.D. Polumbo Jr., 9th Air Force commander, Miller, and Col. John Allen, 633rd ABW outgoing commander, exchanged the wing's guidon representing the transfer of command.

Before assuming command of the 633rd ABW, Miller served as the 379th Mission Support Group commander at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar.

As Miller addressed those in attendance, she expressed her enthusiasm upon returning to the wing.

"To the men and women of the 633rd ABW, I am humbled and honored," said Miller. "I have the opportunity to lead this wing, which in my opinion is the greatest wing in the Air Force."

Polumbo spoke of the exemplary character Allen embodied as he served as the commander during the last two years.

"Under Col. Allen's bold leadership and strong supervision this wing consistently set high standards, while remaining committed to readiness and teamwork at all times, said Polumbo. During his two-year tenure he provided worldwide support to a number of combatant commanders with flexibility that is a hallmark of Langley and Eustis."

As Allen spoke, he took the time to thank the many Airmen and Soldiers that complete the mission.

"For me this morning is all about saying thanks," said Allen. "From providing lethal combat F-22 airpower and ever vigilant combat enabling [intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance] to rapid port opening to name a few, what you all do with precision and excellence like no other is simply superb."

After his two-year tour at Langley Allen will now go on to serve as the Air Force liaison to the U.S. Senate.
