CAMP LIBERTY, Iraq – The 4th Infantry Division's Special Troops Battalion hosted Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison from Texas, Feb. 22.
Hutchison, a member of Congress since 1993 and the ranking member of the military construction committee, took advantage of an opportunity to speak with Soldiers from the Lone Star state about actions in Congress on behalf of the veterans' community.
The visit also afforded the 4th Inf. Div. Soldiers an opportunity to ask questions and bring up issues with the Senator.
"It is always good to have a member of Congress to come visit us and see how things are really going," said Spc. Bryan Armstrong, an Austin, Texas, native who serves as a member of the 4th Inf. Div. Band.
The benefits of the visit were mutual, said Hutchison.
"I'd like to say that the 4th (Inf. Div.) has done an incredible job here," Hutchison said. "Thank you for what you are doing because the job here is making sure that our children have the same freedom and opportunities that all of us have."
Hutchison emphasized the importance of the American Soldier's commitment to the causes of freedom and democracy.
"It is the call of our generation to make sure that the freedom that was given to us for the last 200 years, that our children also have it," she said. "You are the ones making this happen; you are the ones keeping freedom alive."
