ALAMEDA, Calif. - The 743rd Transportation Company (Seaport Operations), Boston, Massachusetts, conducted drivers training for Army Reserve Soldiers at Alameda Point, California. More than 750 Army Reserve Soldiers from all over the United States trained in seaport and harbor operations at Big Logistics-Over-The-Shore, West from July 25 to Aug. 7, 2015.
A motor transport operator from 304th Transportation Company, Staff Sgt. David Edwards led the drivers training course for the 743rd TC.
Edwards said more than 40 Soldiers conducted tactical convoy operations, loaded and unloaded shipping containers, learned proper tie down techniques and followed safety procedures.
Soldiers practiced maintaining a safe distance and obeying traffic signals while driving Humvees, M915A5 tractor trucks, and RT240 Rough Terrain Container Handlers. Soldiers moved forty-foot containers and distribute supplies to sustain the force; it took four Humvees and four M915A5 tractor trucks five round trips.
“Our goal is to have over 6,000 miles before this [annual training] ends, which we will get,” said Edwards.
Sgt. Marcus Greene, also from the 304th TC, explained that moving cargo sustains the force.
“Without supply, you can’t fly,” Greene said.
