    U.S. Army Reserve Command

FORT BRAGG, N.C. – A Soldier from the U.S. Army Reserve will give a special sermon for this year’s 9/11 remembrance near Ground Zero.

Maj. David Peters will deliver the sermon Friday morning at St. Paul’s Chapel in New York. Located directly across from the World Trade Center, the chapel became a place of comfort and consolation after the terrorist attacks.

Peters won a national competition sponsored by the Parish of the Trinity Church, which was seeking the best original sermon for the commemoration. The sermon’s title is “Learning War and Reconciliation,” which touches on some of Peters’ personal experiences as a member of the military.

Peters, an assistant parish priest in Austin, Texas, and Army Reserve chaplain candidate, is looking forward to the remembrance and delivering the sermon.

“I feel honored and it’s truly a blessing,” said Peters.
