LAKE CHARLES, La. β Members of Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Lake Charles gathered Friday at the local 9/11 Memorial on the Lakefront Promenade to honor and remember those lost in 2001.
βIt is important for us to take a pause to remember and honor the citizens who perished, the first responders who gave their lives, and the families that lost loved ones during this terrible, terrible incident,β said Cmdr. Monica L. Rochester, the commanding officer of the Marine Safety Unit.
The Coast Guard led the water evacuation of more than 500,000 people from Manhattan following the attacks.
