KABUL, Afghanistan – Commander Shoshana Chatfield assumed authority of International Security Assistance Force's Farah Provincial Reconstruction Team from Commander Frank Hughlett in a ceremony Sunday.
Attendees at the ceremony included Major General Fausto Macor, RC-West commander, Major General David Rodriguez, Combined Joint Task Force - 82 commander, General Jalandasha, Afghan National Army 207th Corps commander, Provincial Governor Mawlawi Mohideen Baluch, Provincial Line Directors and members of the Provincial Council.
Commander Chatfield said PRT Farah demonstrates the commitment of the United States and ISAF to help the people of Afghanistan. "Our talents, expertise and capabilities are legendary, but only by working in partnership with you will we make measurable and lasting improvements in Farah Province. As neighbors, partners and friends, I know that we will achieve many great things together. We're ready to help," said Cmdr. Chatfield.
"There is not much money, water or natural resources in Farah, but there is certainly a lot of heart, and that will be the key to the successful reconstruction and development of Farah. I tapped into that Afghan heart resource time and time again, personally gaining my own strength and courage from those around me. As I leave here today, I can personally say, there is an Afghan heart beating in my chest."
