CHERRY POINT, N.C. -- Characters with pale ghostly faces, fangs and spooky costumes roamed the Two Rivers Theaters parking lot, searching for candy and other goodies to devour during the 3rd annual Trunk-or-Treat at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Oct. 28, 2015.

Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 2 and Marine Aircraft Group 14 hosted the event for the Marines, Sailors and families of the squadrons.

“We do the annual Trunk-or-Treat to get all of the families from MAG-14 and MWHS-2 together to build camaraderie and have fun in a safe environment for the children,” said Michael McGuinness, the MAG-14 family readiness officer.

During the event, families were able to watch Halloween movies, play games and get their face painted. More than 500 participants dressed in costumes ranging from Marvel comic book characters to Disney princesses to participate in the festivities.
“This year we had 21 trunks, which is more than what we had last year,” said McGuinness. “We offered eight different games, professional face painting and a movie theater set up and operated by volunteers from the squadron.”

With participants ranging in age from infancy to adults all of the participants came out to enjoy the games, food and Halloween activities.

“When there is candy involved, the kids are always going to love it,” said Staff Sgt. David Gibson, an aviation ordnance systems technician with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14. “It’s good to see the families of all the troops get together, hang out and enjoy one another.”
