INDIANAPOLIS (3 Nov. 2015) – Join us for the return of local heroes from the Army Reserve’s 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) after a year-long mobilization to Fort Hood, Texas.
Brig. Gen. Michael Dillard and Command Sgt. Maj. Levi G. Maynard, and the Soldiers of the 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) are slated to uncase the unit colors during a ceremony at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at the Spec. Luke P. Frist Army Reserve Center, 9851 E 59th St., Indianapolis, 46216, on Fort Benjamin Harrison.
Approximately 115 Soldiers from the 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) headquarters were mobilized for one year from Indiana to Fort Hood, Texas for logistical support of Operation Enduring Freedom, beginning 22 Oct. 2014, and replaced the 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) who deployed to Kuwait.
The uncasing of the colors is an Army tradition that symbolizes the return of a unit from mobilization to their home station and the commencement of logistical support operations here.
During the mobilization, the Soldiers of the 310th ESC provided mission oversight of logistical operations at Fort Hood. Additionally, subordinate units were focused on logistical support both at Fort Hood as well as Army installations across the greater Southwest.
The mobilization was historic for a couple of reasons; this was the first time in Army history that an Army Reserve unit was mobilized to active duty status to lead active duty units for logistical operations.
Additionally, during the mobilization, the 310th ESC deployed a small, multi-component logistic team to advise and assist Iraqi Security Forces in support of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve, Iraq.
The 310th ESC, headquartered at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, is an Army Reserve logistical command comprised of over 8,000 Soldiers in almost 70 subordinate companies and detachments in 12 different battalions spread throughout the Eastern U.S.
News media representatives with photo ID are invited to attend. Please RSVP NLT Nov. 13, 2015. For more information, contact the 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) Public Affairs Office, Capt. Sean Delpech at (317) 377-2181 or sean.d.delpech.mil@mail.mil.
