TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras - Joint Task Force-Bravo presented Col. Hedberth Rene Caballero with the Defense Meritorious Service Medal in the Honduran Joint Staff headquarters in Tegucigalpa, Oct. 22,2015.
Caballero has served as the Honduran Joint Staff Liaison Officer to JTF-B since Jan 2014. During his tenure, he has demonstrated extraordinary professionalism in integrating Honduran military organizations into all JTF-B training, earning this award for his exceptional service to the Armed Forces of the United States.
He has been a key facilitator for 15 Medical Training Exercises, 12 Honduran troop rotations, multiple live fire exercises, 3 paradrop operations and a humanitarian relief mission in eastern Honduras. His persistent desire to improve US/Honduras relations resulted in the establishment of various key synchronization meetings which allowed the task force to seamlessly execute unprecedented Honduran troop movements that directly impact the decrease of drug traffic operations in eastern Honduras.
Caballero is the first Honduran to ever receive this award and will be retiring in December 2015.
