FORT HOOD, Texas -- Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who was found unresponsive from an apparent gunshot wound Nov. 4 at her off-post residence in Killeen, Texas.
Spc. Cecelia Devonna Shannon was pronounced deceased 11:25 a.m. Nov. 5 by Dr. David Anderson of Baylor Scott & White Hospital, Temple, Texas.
Shannon, 22, whose home of record is listed as Huntsville, Alabama, entered active-duty service in October 2012 as a horizontal construction engineer. She was assigned to 20th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, Fort Hood, since November 2014.
Shannon's awards and decorations include the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.
Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation.
