CHARLESTON, S.C. - Former Airman 1st Class Brian T. Shirley joined the U.S. Air Force in 1987 and worked as a B-1 Lancer Avionics Technician at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas.
During his time in the Air Force, Shirley enjoyed volunteering to MC at base and squadron events, which is where he realized that he wanted to pursue a career in comedy.
Upon leaving the U.S. Air Force in 1990, Shirley began a career in comedy. He has now been performing as a comedian/philosopher for more than 20 years.
Shirley is thankful for the experience and lessons he learned in the Air Force and showed his support for those serving today by performing a comedy show for U.S. Marines stationed in Fuji and Okinawa, Japan.
“I feel anything I can do to help the people that protect this country, I will,” Shirley said. “Anything that I can do to help the folks that are putting their lives on the line, more than I ever did, that’s the serious part of why I give back.”
