    525th Expeditionary Military Intelligence Brigade

    FORT BRAGG, N.C. – Eight Fort Bragg Soldiers accompanied by family and friends celebrated the conclusion of an Army career during the XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg Retirement Celebration November 19 at the Noncommissioned Officer’s Academy here.

    Following an invocation, video and musical tribute and awards presentation, guest speaker Col. James E. Walker, 525th Military Intelligence Brigade Commander, gave remarks.

    “These remarkable Soldiers recognized here today have led journeys that have had lasting impacts, not only in their professional career, but in the lives of so many other Soldiers and their families,” said Col. Walker. “The strength of our Nation is our Army, the strength of our Army is our Soldiers and the strength of our Soldiers is our Families.”

    Col. Kenneth C. Dyer
    Col. Kenneth C. Dyer retired after 31 years of service in the U.S. Army. His last assignment was Chief of Sustainment, XXVIII Airborne Corps. His final military award was the Legion of Merit. Dyer plans to reside in Medina, Ohio.

    CW3 Sharita M. Booth
    CW3 Sharita M. Booth retired after 18 years of service in the U.S. Army. Her last assignment was the Command Food Service Advisor, 1st Theater Sustainment Command. As her final military award, she received the Meritorious Service Medal. Booth plans to reside in Stedman, N.C.

    Sgt. Maj. Thomas D. Shaw
    Sgt. Maj. Thomas D. Shaw retired after more than 31 years of service in the U.S. Army. As his final military award, he received the Meritorious Service Medal. His last assignment was the Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear and Explosives Sergeant Major, XVIII Airborne Corps. His final military award was the Meritorious Service Medal. Shaw plans to reside in Wesley Chapel, Florida.

    1st Sgt Richard E. Newton
    1st Sgt. Richard E. Newton, II retired after 26 years of service in the U.S. Army. His last assignment was the First Sergeant of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 188th Brigade Support Battalion. As his final military award, he received the Meritorious Service Medal. Newton plans to reside in Fayetteville, N.C.

    Sgt.1st Class Clifford E. Hartley, Jr.
    Sgt.1st Class Clifford E. Hartley, Jr. retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. Army. His last assignment was a Military Advisor, U.S. Army Security Training Management Organization. As his final military award, he received the Meritorious Service Medal. Hartley plans to reside in Martins Ferry, Ohio.

    Sgt. 1st Class Hosea L. McGowan
    Sgt. 1st Class Hosea L. McGowan retired after 22 years of service in the U.S. Army. His last assignment was the Assistant Inspector General at Joint Base, San Antonio, Texas. His final military award was the Meritorious Service Medal. McGowan plans to reside in Hope Mills, N.C.

    Sgt. 1st Class Deon A. Ziegler
    Sgt. 1st Class Deon A. Ziegler retired after 26 years of service in the U.S. Army. His last assignment was the Master Gunner, 18th Field Artillery Brigade. His final military award was the Meritorious Service Medal. Ziegler plans to reside in Sanford, N.C.

    Staff Sgt. Christopher L. Denney
    Staff Sgt. Christopher L. Denney retired after 21 years of service the U.S. Army. His last assignment was the Allied Trades Supervisor, 659th Maintenance Company, 264th Combat Service Support Battalion. His final military award was the Meritorious Service Medal. Denney plans to reside in New Site, Ala.

    The 525th Military Intelligence Brigade, and Expeditionary Force conducts multidiscipline intelligence operations in support of echelons corps and below, providing downward reinforcing capabilities to the Division, Brigade Combat Teams, and other formations.
