FORT STEWART, Ga. - Fort Stewart, and the 3rd Infantry Division “Rock of the Marne,” in collaboration with the Intelligence and Security Command, held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Foundry Annex here Dec. 8.
With the new facility, the division has greatly expanded its capabilities within the realms of readiness training of all intelligence disciplines within the installation’s footprint.
The Foundry enables Army personnel to learn new intelligence skills and sustain and improve their technical, analytical and foreign language skills to execute intelligence missions successfully.
As one of two new locations used for intelligence training here, the Foundry is designed and utilized to train all Army components, continuing to support units in its regional area of responsibility of Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Mississippi and Alabama.
The keynote speaker for the event was Brig. Gen. Gary Johnston, deputy commanding general, Intelligence and Security Command.
Joining Johnston in the actual ribbon cutting was Maj. Gen. James Rainey, commanding general, 3rd ID, Lt. Col. Jennifer Chapman, assistant chief of staff for Intelligence, 3rd ID, and Duion Furgason, director, Fort Stewart Foundry Site.
